After nearly 4 years since its initial reveal. The Duviri Paradox is finally making its way to Warframe. This is going to be the games largest and strangest expansion to date. As it not only brings with it a new open world and a story quest to accompany it. It is also redefining its core gameplay, adding a whole new endless game mode with unique rewards and reward systems. As well as unique world cycles that changes how Duviri works on a loop. Here is everything you need to know, including the file sizes for the update tomorrow!
A Strange New World in Warframe
The Duviri Paradox is going to take place in a new open world location called Duviri. A place ruled by a mad child king called Dominus Thrax. Players will step into the shoes of the Drifter. A character being tormented by Thrax on a daily loop until a mysterious incident breaks the cycle. From there the Drifter will be trying to escape the madness of Duviri. While the Drifter has already made an appearance in Warframe during The New War. The story, as well as most of the activities in The Duviri Paradox will focus on the Drifter. Since he is not a warframe, this means the gameplay will be slowed down and feel more dangerous. Similar to the souls-like genre.

The gameplay experience of Duviri will have elements of the rogue-lite genre as well. Since each activity, main or side objective will reward players with a buff they can choose, from a random assortment. These buffs will last until a player finishes a run or is defeated and sent back to the games safe haven to begin their run again. But considering Duviri is going to be a large open world, restarting will not feel as tedious to navigate from the safe haven to objectives due to the Kaithe, the players loyal steed given to them in the main quest. The Kaithe will be able to fly and have its own attack to use before dismounting to take on enemies.
Finally, Duviri will have five “Moods” that fundamentally change Duviri and which character you will be meeting and doing stuff for:
- Anger: Which rains balls of fire from the sky, changes the hue of Duviri to a dark red and the enemies are more aggressive.
- Envy: This mood gives Duviri a green-ish look and also gives enemies poison damage for their weapons.
- Sorrow: A rainy and blue look for Duviri.
- Fear: Duviri will be darker and there will be shadowy foes across the world.
- Happiness: Duviri will be peaceful and colorful but still have dangerous foes throughout.
The Drifter will have five melee weapons to choose from:
- Dual Nikanas.
- Single Nikana.
- Two Handed Nikana.
- Polearm.
- Two-handed Mace.
Finally, there will be a new fishing mini-game that allows you to take control of a metal fish and eat smaller fish for rewards. But there is also a new warframe-centric game mode coming with The Duviri Paradox.
The Circuit
The Circuit is going to be an endless warframe-centric game mode that will fundamentally change how players will farm for specific warframes and weapons moving forward. For starters, the game mode will cycle through an array of normal mission types like defense, survival or extermination. But will have unique rewards systems for players both new and old.
Each week, players will be able to take on a reward path for specific items. If you play the normal circuit variant you can choose a warframe path and earn not only the parts and blueprint for that warframe. You can earn specific mods and weapon blueprints. But for players like me who already have everything in the game, the Steel Path variant will reward players with Incarnon Adapters for older weapons.
The Steel Path will be a harder variant of the circuit. Tuning enemies all the way to higher levels, boosting the damage and health of enemies, making into a high risk high reward activity. As Incarnon adapters will change how older weapons function. You can only pick one adapter per week to earn for a specific weapon, and after installing that adapter into a weapon you can perform specific challenges to improve how those weapons function. Not only in terms of stats, but how they fire. In Devstream 168, they showed the lato pistol’s Incarnon form firing glaive shots that ricochet between enemies.
Suffice it to say, the circuit will be an amazing activity to enjoy for players both old and new.
New Cosmetics
Finally, no Warframe update is complete without a whole slew of cosmetics. There will be a lot of Drifter focused cosmetics. Such as beards for the character. One beard will be free, there others will be paid for. There will two new outfits you can buy. As well as being allowed to use the Herrier outfit from the Zephyr collection. Additionally, if you farmed the Steel Path outfit for your operator, that can be worn by the Drifter. There will be skins for the Kaithe. As well as deluxe skins for Wisp and Baruuk.
The Duviri Paradox will be free, just like Warframe. If you have not played the game yet, you can choose to jump into The Duviri Paradox immediately. As the story and content of the expansion is designed with new players in mind.
