Xbox Showcase Will Not Contain Any CGI Trailers From First Party Studios
June has always been a special time in the gaming industry. While the landscape has certainly changed with the demise of E3 this year, regardless there are still plenty of events to be excited about. Perhaps one of the biggest upcoming events is the Xbox Showcase. On June 11th, we will get to learn more about what the upcoming Xbox lineup of games will look like from its first party and partners. While we know for sure we will see more about Starfield, the rest of the showcase has remained a mystery. However, tonight we did learn some interesting tidbits of what to expect at the Xbox Showcase.
Xbox Showcase Expectations Are Heating Up
Aaron Greenberg VP of Xbox Games Marketing at Microsoft had a few interesting tidbits that he took to Twitter to share. One of these tidbits was that they would heavily focus on games and the show is set to run for two hours showcasing a variety of different games from Xbox’s first party and their development partners. Perhaps an even more interesting piece of information came in one of his replies to a question in regard to CGI trailers. Greenberg stated “None of our first-party games in the show are full CG trailers. Everything is either in-game footage, in-engine footage, or in-game footage with some cinematics.” This is a great announcement for Xbox as many of their previous showcases have been criticized for a reliance on CGI trailers. It is a common critique around the industry as even PlayStation’s latest showcase received criticism for a large amount of CGI versus gameplay.
7 days until our first ever double feature. Roughly two hours of non stop games, games, games, games, and Starfield! ๐๐ ๐ผโโ๏ธ๐ฎ๐โจ๐ฅ #XboxShowcase #HoldTheLine๐ https://t.co/yUA5JT6ejl

Another common question within this thread was in regards to Xbox’s last showcase in which the company only revealed games that were set to release in the next 12 months. According to Greenberg, next week’s showcase does not follow this formula, which means we might get some glances at projects that could launch in late 2024 and beyond. This is particularly exciting as Xbox undoubtedly has a lot of different projects on the go across its massive first-party portfolio. From Hellblade 2, Avowed, Fable, and much more it will be interesting to see what games will make an appearance.
