Previously, Final Fantasy has been seen as synonymous with the PlayStation brand. Titles like Final Fantasy VII Remake and XVI remain exclusive to Sony with no end in sight. However, Phil Spencer took to the Fan Fest stage for a special announcement. Xbox fans will soon become Warriors of Light. The MMO arrives on both Xbox Series X and S with Series X having 4k capabilities. Furthermore, open beta tests for the client will begin with the 6.5x patch series. This precedes the full release in Spring 2024.
Dawntrail
The Scions of the Seventh Dawn return. Yoshi-P revealed the latest expansion, Dawntrail. Additionally, the Warrior of Light travels to a new continent, Tural. Here, players can expect a variety of content including new dungeons, allied tribes, jobs quests, and more.
Subsequently, Dawntrail brings the first graphical update of Final Fantasy XIV. This update incorporated an update to environmental textures along with player textures. Additionally, fans can spot improved lighting and shadows as well.
Expanded Free Trial
The 6.5x series of patches also expands the free trial available to all players. Previously, this trial has been praised for its expansive nature and the vast amount of content given for free. Soon, newcomers can enjoy the game up to the Stormblood expansion (through patch 4.56) and any characters to level 70 indefinitely. Now is the best time to invite a friend to Eorzea or try it yourself.
Final Fantasy XIV continues to grow with no end in sight. Takashi Kiryu (Square Enix President and CEO) encouraged Yoshi-P to continue his creative passions through this title beyond Dawntrail. The MMO is abundantly popular and profitable with plenty of potential for new stories to tell and even collaborations.
A new Fall Guys-inspired attraction comes to the Gold Saucer with the 6.5x patch series. Additionally, Fall Guys launches the “Warriors of Light Fame Pass” on August 22. This pass offers players the chance to bring the spirit of FF XIV to the free for all madness.
The Fan Fest has plenty more in store for fans this weekend and be sure to check out the official blogpost here. Stay tuned to Lords of Gaming for any further announcements should they develop. Happy questing.
