On November 9th, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio will release Yakuza 7 Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. Also in America known as, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. A game that will follow former Yakuza series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu during the events of Yakuza 7/ Yakuza: Like A Dragon.
Like a Dragon Gaiden The Man Who Erased His Name Gameplay and Story Trailer
The new trailer evokes everything we love about the Yakuza franchise. It starts off with a bang that carries over into a darker story beat, then brings you right back into the colorful city of Kamurocho. The trailer promises to deliver on the heavy story surrounding the events that led Kiryu into exile.
The second half of the trailer reminds fans that the brawler combat system will return for this game and this game only. Gone are the turn-based RPG mechanics from Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Fans of the series are going to feel right at home. Plus the trailer showcases a new battle area mini-game where you can play as other characters from the franchise including Majima. Along with an all-new Maid Cafe mini-game with full live-action scenes.
Yakuza 7 Gaiden will tie Kazuma Kiryu back into the mainline events following Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The idea is for this game to tie Yakuza 6 and Yakuza 7 together as Kiryu joins Ichiban Kasuga in Yakuza 8 also known as Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth in the West. Yakuza 8 will release in early 2024 on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation. It will take place following the events of Yakuza: Like a Dragon and will bring a return of turn-based combat.
