Dungeons of Hinterberg Interview – PAX West 2023

The Iron Lords Podcast are live on the Pax West 2023 show floor. The lords are there to give us the latest sneak peeks, developer interviews, and more. During Pax West, ILP got a chance to learn more about Dungeons of Hinterberg thanks to Franchise Director, Kristian von Fersen.

This game blends Action-RPG elements with Social Sim elements. It uses combat systems like Final Fantasy XVI’s and builds gameplay with social connections like Journey.

Fersen explained that the eponymous town went through a magical revival. “Magic has sprung up. 25 dungeons have been discovered, and a big tourist industry sprung up in the town.” Tourists come from all over to challenge the dungeons and adventure the area. Louisa, the main character, takes a break from work to visit Hinterberg and explore its dungeons.

Microbird, the Austrian developers, last showed their project at the Xbox Showcase. The trailer showed Louisa fighting various beings, fast downhill traversal, and puzzle driven gameplay. Gondolas ferrying guests dot many of the levels, similar to the Alps which span most of Austria.

Dungeons of Hinterberg releases next year on Xbox Game Pass and Steam.
