PlayStation 5 Pro Inbound? – New Reports for PS5 Hardware in 2024 (Rumor)

Rumors on an upgraded PlayStation 5 have been hovering in the air for a while now. Major insiders have discussed new PlayStation hardware being inbound and now a new report from CNBC is echoing similar statements.

Despite losing 10 million from their stocks, PlayStation seems eager to rebound from their losses with new hardware.

“There seems to be a broad consensus in the game industry that Sony is indeed preparing a launch of a PS5 Pro in the second half of 2024,” Serkan Toto, CEO of Tokyo-based games consultancy Kantan Games, told CNBC.

“And Sony will want to make sure to have a great piece of hardware ready when GTA VI hits in 2025, a launch that will be a shot in the arm for the entire gaming industry.”

So despite very public statements that Sony’s first party is having a light year in 2024, they are banking on third parties leveraging the better hardware to generate more sales. Will this be a successful gamble? It is hard to determine, with Pro consoles last generation only having modest sales.

What do you all think of this? Do you think analysts are correct with their statements? Or will Sony ride out the base PS5 until the next generation?
