The past few years, PlayStation has made it clear they were venturing into the realm of multiplayer games. Moves pushing this initiative includes purchasing Bungie and having many live-service games in development. It seems, however, that Insomniac Games were also making a multiplayer title for PlayStation alongside Spider-Man 2.

Into the Spider-Verse – Gameplay Leak/Details

The trailer, sourced from Insider Gaming, features Peter narrating saving the city with help from a few fellow Spider-People. The footage showcased players swinging around Spider-Man 2’s New York, fighting Venom and going into portals.

Most of the Spider-People present are costumes Peter/Miles could unlock in the main game. Other Spider-People, like Silk and Spider-Gwen/Ghost Spider do appear in concept art and gameplay.

The trailer ends with all the Spider-People jumping into Across the Spider-Verse inspired portals, implying other New York variations would be present.

Overall Thoughts on the Spider-man Multiplayer Game

When it was revealed that Spider-Man 2 cost PlayStation 200 million to produce, many were curious why it would be that expensive. Between the layoffs hitting Insomniac recently and other multiplayer initiatives within PlayStation coming to a stretching halt, this presents our potential answer.

It’s very likely that The Great Web would have been a multiplayer client ala Ghost of Tsushima: Legends. With the multiverse concept, the idea of a multiplayer Spider-Man experience makes itself.
