Warframe Devstream 180 Breakdown
Devstream 180 for Warframe has just wrapped up on all Digital Extreme’s official channels. This Devstream was one of the meatiest of the year and the final one before TennoCon 2024. As it showcased not only the next major content, Jade Shadows. It also detailed a whole slew of major changes coming to the game, and some news on Soulframe. Without further adieu, here is everything from Devstream 180!
Everything From Devstream 180
For starters, they kicked off the show by talking about how their Pride celebrations has just begun. They have partnered with Rainbow Railroad and the Trans Lifeline foundations for all of Pride month and have donated a hefty sum to their efforts. Players in Warframe who want to show off their pride can acquire three new themed items in the in-game market. Including a new display and Pride themed wings stand that is similar to the one you can acquire from Ticker in Fortuna during Star Days.
Moving onto other community themed announcements. There will be one final round of platform specific Dojo contests before they move the contest to be fully multiplatform.
Following all of this news, they got to cracking on the next major update, Jade Shadows, and everything players can expect from it. As well as its release date.
Jade Shadows Launches on June 18th for Warframe
They started off the showcase in Devstream 180 by unveiling a new teaser trailer for Jade Shadows you can watch below:
The themes of the trailer already point at a moth and butterfly themed scenario. With Jade lightly interacting with the Stalker, who will be the star of the quest. In this cinematic quest you can expect a smaller sized experience. Clocking in at around 25 minutes, according to Creative Director Rebecca Ford. You will have to have The New War finished to access the quest, similar to Veilbreaker.
Following these details, they also talked about how Jade will function in Warframe, with a small breakdown of her abilities:
- Her first ability will make small areas that constantly heal allies, while damaging enemies inside of them. You can make a limit of three of these, similar to Gyre’s first ability.
- The second ability swaps between three unique auras like Khora with Venari. Where you can either constantly regenerate shields, boost ability damage or weapon damage for you and allies.
- Her third ability allows you to slow enemies within line of sight and strip their armor. If a fallen Tenno is within that same sight, you can revive them instantly.
- Finally, her fourth ability launches her in the air and allows you fly while throwing a new exalted weapon down at foes for massive damage.
Her third ability will be the one that can be subsumed. But the revive part will be removed when adding it to another warframe. She will be the first warframe to feature two aura slots for better customization alongside the Exilus slot. They also detailed her weapons on the devstream:
- Evensong, her bow, will have an even damage layout, with a high critical and even higher status effect chance.
- Cantare, her secondary, will have a status focus with higher slash damage.
- Harmony, her scythe, will have a status focus with higher puncture damage.
They also detailed that when you use her weapons, they will offer passive buffs to you and your allies. But did not go into details on how that works.
Ascension and Jade Light Eximus Units
Following the details on Jade and her weapons, they also talked about how the new Ascension game mode will work in Warframe. When doing this activity, it will be a multi-faceted game mode. You will have to defend consoles until you find an object to defend on an elevator. When you get to the elevator you will have to find certain items to keep the object powered while defending it from enemies. They did say if you fall while doing this game mode, you will have to parkour to get back to the elevator and your team. They also showed off the new Jade Light eximus units. These units will summon a beam of jade light to kill you quickly, so you will have to find it and kill it quickly.
They also talked about how you can acquire Jade and her weapons in Warframe. Ascension will not be an endless game mode, so it will be a straight shot with a set amount of the special resource you gain from it. From there you can go to Ordis, who will be in the Larunda relay to trade that resource in to acquire Jade and her weapons and five new arcane variants. Ordis will also have a special inventory for the new Belly of the Beast clan operation. Where you can acquire a new Jade light themed ephemera that you can unlock different tiers of as the community progresses in the clan operation. Details on how the operation works was not talked about in this stream.
In this special inventory you can buy arcanes, but they are limited to 2 sets of each arcane to avoid burnout. There will also be a Jade light themed Hate skin in this special inventory . From here they went into extensive detail on the Status effect reworks.
Reworking a Slew of Status Effects
They mentioned in Devstream 179 that there would be changes some status effects, and Design Lead Pablo talked about it in more thorough detail here in Devstream 180:
- Magnetic will now deal extra damage to shields and overguard. When damaging overguard a giant electrical surge will proc after the overguard is destroyed.
- Blast now builds up a secondary explosion on enemies that deals a percentage of the damage dealt to every enemy within range.
- Corrosive will now strip armor to 40% instead of just 65% and enemies armor cap will be reduced to improve damage against them.
- Enemies when Frozen will be able to be ragdolled by abilities like Zephyr’s tornadoes, and Nidus’s infested pull.
- Cold will now freeze enemies solid at 10 stacks and you can deal extra critical damage to them.
Frost is also getting a small rework to his abilities to accommodate the new Cold changes. His first ability has a greater range of effect. You can now shoot inside the snow globe from the outside and vice versa. Finally, his passive now gives him extra armor in accordance to how many enemies have Cold applied to them. They did say they are looking into making some changes for Volt to make his status effect usage better like Frost.
They capped off this segment by talking about five new decrees for Duviri and four new augments coming to Warframe. Starting with:
- Protea’s Blaze Artillery following her, but you can only summon one. But its duration will be similar to Temporal Anchor with the augment one.
- An Augment for Sevagoth’s “Sew” ability.
- One for Dagath’s “Grave Spirit” ability.
- And one for Qorvex’s “Containment Wall” ability.
Below are the new Decrees coming to Duviri, including one that will be very helpful for resource farming:
They also mentioned you can now earn pathos clamps by completing undercroft rounds. It is unknown if this applies to the circuit, but it will apply to the optional portals in The Duviri Experience.
They then moved onto talking about a whole slew of new quality of life changes.
New Quality of Life Changes Coming to Warframe
To help streamline things in the core customization experience in Warframe and preparing for missions you can expect these changes in Jade Shadows:
- You can now duplicate mod configurations. Allowing you to make small changes for different builds with similar mod layouts.
- When a mod is in a wrong polarity slot, you can now see the correct polarity to fix it if needed.
- Efficiency will now detail its benefits for channeled ability duration.
- Going to the ability screen will now show the specific augment and where you got it if you want to help someone or buy another to trade.
- Fast travel is being added to certain cities and relays, including Maroos bazaar.
- There will now be a specific loadout tab when in the star chart, to change your loadout if a player picks a mission and you do not want to go to your arsenal.
- Damage numbers will no longer cover up enemies, they will now be spread out in a circle around the enemies like other looter shooters.
- When the option to allow semi-auto weapons to be fired like full-auto weapons with reduce rate of fire comes. There will be three unique mods to customize that experience.
- They are also adding the option to re-equip a previously used relic when in endless void fissures.
- Finally, damage necramech parts will be sold by father and not Necraloid.
Finally, they talked about a whole slew of new cosmetics coming to Warframe.
Yareli Deluxe, New Tennogen and Ember Heirloom in Warframe
The Yareli Pandea skin will be coming with Jade Shadows. It will also have a bundle for the Kompressa, and unique Merulina skin.
They also showed off some new Tennogen items, including:
- A Plague Doctor Lavos skin.
- Kuva themed chest piece.
- A new Equinox helmet.
- A new set of shoulder pieces.
- And a set of operator face cosmetics.
Additionally, Digital Extremes will be adding a custom community fashionframe tab so both the community and members of the team can share their fashion and people can copy them if they’d like. They are also allowing color palette loadouts for new players when they choose their first warframe.
They also showed off the next Heirloom skin. This will be for Ember, and it looks absolutely stunning, in my opinion as an Ember main.
This will come with a much better price point with the option of buying it with platinum. It will be $24.99 USD and will come with a unique signa, glyph, color palette, and foil prex card with some platinum. Or you can buy it in the in-game market with platinum if you have an abundance of it. They also talked about how they want to make Heirlooms rotate in, similarly, to Prime Resurgence. The second Heirloom for this year will be revealed at TennoCon this year.
TennoCon 2024 and New Soulframe Info
To cap off Devstream 180, they showed off the full-time schedule for TennoVIP and TennoCon itself:
TennoCon will feature the first Devstream for Soulframe and should include a lot of awesome stuff to look forward to. Expect full coverage here at Lords of Gaming for that Devstream.
They also showed off two new ode enemies for players to look forward to. An armored dog and archer and a new armor set for the envoys.
They also showed off a new corrupted area with a creepy “Mockery” enemy. These will be added in a future update for the prelude’s version of the game.
But that wraps up everything from Devstream 180 for Warframe and Soulframe. If you would like to watch the full stream for any and all minute details, you can do so here!
