On May 15th, Airship Syndicate announced the Echoes Update for Wayfinder. This update was not a normal update the player base was expecting for an MMORPG. Considering this update fundamentally changes the game from an MMORPG to a traditional ARPG. Featuring an overhaul to the loot system that makes it feel more rewarding. Sets of armor to earn for every wayfinder, while also offering every wayfinder as part of the game’s natural progression. All microtransactions and founder’s packs are also being removed. Making the game into a one-time purchase of $24.99, that you can experience today.

What is Wayfinder? And What did Echoes Change?

There is a lot that the Echoes update in Wayfinder changes. As previously mentioned, all wayfinders can now be earned just by completing main quests. Weapons will now drop as simple loot, with tiers, stat changes and different slots for echoes, or gems in other ARPGs. Wayfinders will now also have dedicated talent trees. Where you can unlock passive upgrades that also offer stat increases for your weapons and abilities. The biggest change by far, however, is the fact that it will now be a traditional solo experience with optional co-op. You no longer need to be online to play Wayfinder. The game even offers difficulty options so you can either experience all the game has to offer easily or throw yourself into more challenging scenarios.

Today, in celebration of the Echoes Update launch, they released a bombastic new trailer you can watch below:

In addition to this update, the promised Grendel wayfinder is also being added in this update, with mounts to mitigate travel time between quests. As well as a whole new massive open world zone, Frostmarch.
