Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.2 Now Live!

Earlier today, CD Projekt Red hosted a stream showcasing the upcoming content in update 2.2 for CyberPunk 2077. The patch primarily focuses on cosmetic enhancements for the player character and vehicles, along with improvements to photo mode. Approximately 100 new options have been added to the character creator.

Two major systems have been introduced for vehicles: CrystalCoat technology and TWINTONE. TWINTONE allows you to scan compatible cars worldwide and apply their features to your own vehicles. The full patch notes can be accessed here.

A Mixed Response

A day or so before the stream started, Developer CD Projekt Red made a statement to set the correct expectations regarding this patch. They posted on social media that this update would not include a PS5 Pro patch or New Game +. The two additions are things players have been regularly asking for. Even with that statement, this update is quickly receiving mixed reception.

It seems like there are two groups of players regarding this update. The first group is simply grateful to receive anything, especially since it was previously announced that development on Cyberpunk 2077 was officially over. The second group feels this update is a bit lackluster and didn’t justify having a dedicated stream.

I fall into the second group. Even though CD Projekt Red did its best to set the right expectations, I was hoping for more, considering they organized a streaming event discussing its features.

But Wait…There’s more!

During the stream and in the patch notes, it was mentioned that there are “new secrets to find in Night City.” At this time, we don’t know the full extent of what this entails. Hopefully, it includes new weapons or perhaps even some of the original cut content being reintroduced into Cyberpunk 2077. Only time will tell, but hopefully, these secrets will add more substance to the patch in a different way.
