Ahead of The Game Awards and the holidays, Digital Extremes just launched their newest expansion-sized update, The Old Peace. The Old Peace will take players back to a time in Warframe before The Old War started in a new cinematic quest. But that’s not all, of course, as there are plenty of new game modes, a new warframe, new protoframes, and an expansion to the Focus system in the game. Here is everything you need to know about it!
War, War Never Changes
The Old Peace explores the events before The Old War, a pivotal moment in the lore of Warframe. This story focuses on the Operator instead of the Drifter and takes place on the moon of Tau, where you will relive the moments before the Old War started and also explore the relationship between the Orokin, Tenno, and the Sentients.

In this update, there are two new game modes to explore following the quest. The first is Descendia, a weekly rotating challenge tower that takes you through 21 floors of different objectives and bosses for new rewards. The other is the Perita Rebellion, which takes you into a strictly timed war zone to do as many objectives as possible to take on new and interesting bosses. From a giant Sentient to Primed warframes. All of this in service of the new Focus expansion and the Tauron Strike system.

The Expansion to the Focus System in Warframe
The Focus system in Warframe has been expanded in meaningful ways in this update, from new nodes in every Focus school to new mods that all play into the new Tauron Strikes from the TennoCon demo. Every Focus system will have a new ultimate ability that lets you feel even more power. Whether it is a giant sword swing, hammer slam, or bow shot, you can now channel some clearly anime-inspired abilities. With the Tauron Strike ultimates being earned through The Devils Triad.

The Old Peace brings with it 3 new protoframes in Warframe. You will have Lyon, the Harrow protoframe, Marie the Wisp protoframe, and Roathe, the protoframe for the 63rd warframe, Uriel. The Devils Triad will be how you unlock the Tauron Strikes while you earn the upgrades for the Tauron Strikes through the new game modes. The Devils Triad will also be new protoframes you can talk to and romance if you so choose (without conflicting with your choices in 1999).
Uriel and Gyre Prime
As mentioned previously, The Old Peace brings with it a new warframe, as all updates do in the game. Uriel is the Devil-themed warframe with abilities centered around his demon entourage and fire and brimstone. A breakdown of his abilities can be found in our Devstream 191 article here. His signature weapon is a new weapon class, the Vinquibus bayonet class. Vinquibus is the first-ever primary and melee weapon combination. Allowing for two separate build combinations while taking up 2 slots in your arsenal.

Finally, Gyre Prime sways into Warframe with the Alternox and Kestrel Primes for players to earn (or buy) in the game.

This update really throws in everything and the kitchen sink for one expansion to Warframe before the holidays. Digital Extremes is already close to breaking their previous peak concurrent player count of all time, as of the time of writing this article. While also being only under CS: GO 2 in Top Sellers, which is a sure-fire sign of success for the developers.
Below will be the launch trailer for the update. Featuring new gameplay and dialogue from the cinematic quest. This update is free on all platforms as well. Including PC, modern PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox consoles.
