Battlefield 6 is opening the cockpit to everyone this week. The Top Gun crossover is now live alongside a free trial running from August 18 through August 25.
For me, the free trial is the interesting part. It gives people an opportunity to get their feet wet and actually try Battlefield 6 for themselves. I already own the game, so the trial itself doesn’t do much for me. But hearing people in my circles talk about how much they’re enjoying the Top Gun content has me thinking maybe it’s finally time to jump in.

Top Gun Comes to Battlefield 6
The crossover brings three Top Gun characters into Battlefield 6, voiced by their original performers. Miles Teller returns as Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, Lewis Pullman as Lt. Robert “Bob” Floyd, and Charles Parnell as Adm. Solomon “Warlock” Bates.
There are also Top Gun-inspired skins and cosmetics because, remember, it’s all about the drip.
I’m the Drip King, baby!
Players can pilot the F-74A Seacat and F/A-81F Super Spectre across a reimagined version of Wake Island.

What makes this crossover work for me is that Top Gun actually fits Battlefield. Jets, military spectacle, speed, and action are already part of the fantasy. EA isn’t trying to force two completely different things together.
Battlefield REDSEC is also getting the jet treatment with a jets-only Gauntlet mission on a reworked Tsuru Reef.
A Reason to Jump In
That’s where the free trial comes back into play. Top Gun gives people a reason to look, and the free trial gives them a way to see what Battlefield 6 is about.
