New looks at Train Graveyard and Shinra Building in FF7 Remake

Detailed screenshots of the expanded Train Graveyard and Shinra building were also shown. The developers added more depth to these areas by including more story, dialogue, and character interaction.

From subtle lighting to polished, high-quality areas to explore, Square went all out for the Shinra building in Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Aerith enters the battlefield!

Next, Aerith has a few tricks up her sleeve to make her the most graceful and versatile partner on the battlefield. Pressing square initiates her ranged magic attack. Holding down the same button releases a succession of the same attack.

Pressing triangle will have Aerith do a move called Tempest. Holding triangle for a maximum charge will release a spell that explodes repeatedly after it hits an enemy.

The screenshots also reveal two unique abilities to Aerith – ‘Soul Drain’ and ‘Lustrous Sheld.’ The former lets Aerith absorb MP from an enemy while the latter summons a magical barrier that can block projectiles and damage foes who come into contact with it.

Ice, ice baby

Finally, we’re given a better look at the Ice Queen summon herself, Shiva. Fans of the original FFVII will notice her Remake design is quite similar to the 1997 version. She’ll fight automatically when summoned and can be given commands to use her abilities, just like the Ifrit summon. A new move called Heavenly Strike will drop a giant glacier on an enemy. Diamond Dust is the summon’s iconic magic attack and makes an icy return in FF7 Remake.
