Kojima Productions Pulls Out Of GDC 2020 Due To Coronavirus Concerns

Kojima Productions

Over the past few weeks, we have seen the Coronavirus spread outside of China to the rest of the world. This has caused a disruption in industries all over the globe. It even has started to affect the video game industry. We have seen the Nintendo Switch port of the Outer Worlds be delayed indefinitely. Sony and Oculus both pulled their presence from PAX East and GDC this past week. It comes as no surprise as Kojima Productions the studio responsible for Death Stranding will not be attending GDC 2020. In a post from the official Kojima Productions Twitter account. They cited that their priority is putting their team’s safety above all else. This will directly affect Hideo Kojima’s presentation that was scheduled for March 19th at the conference. With Kojima Productions being located in Japan where cases have spiked this past week this announcement comes as no surprise. While Kojima Productions will be missed at GDC, extra precautions in times like these can be crucial. This will certainly not be the last company to pull out of upcoming events.
