If you have an order open with Gamestop you might want to assess your situation locally. Some Gamestop preorders are unable to be fulfilled as stores close for Covid-19 related violations. On April, 3rd Gamestop released a statement on how they would be handling pre-orders. For preorders that are not paid in full, those orders are in limbo until the stores reopen. This could be another month or two, at least. Compounding the issue, stores are also closing for non-virus related reasons. It is unclear how that is being handled.
We contacted other local stores, they are unable to honor orders from different locations. When calling Gamestop corporate customer service, after waiting hours, the line just disconnects. We also reached out to Gamestop on their social channels and email, to no response. Online orders are still being shipped out but, if you have an order locally, you will have issues.
We talked to a number of customers that have been impacted. We expect there are a large number of people that need help. This may be why we are unable to connect with anyone at Gamestop corporate. Gamestop preorders impacted date back to Persona 5 Royal, Final Fantasy 7 and Resident Evil 3. More recent games that will be impacted include Predator Hunting Grounds, Moto GP 20 and The Wonderful 101 Remastered.
If your Gamestop pre-order is still in limbo, drop a comment down below and let us know. As we continue to monitor how Gamestop handles the closure of stores. Both from downsizing and due to the spread of Covid-19.
