Video game industry veteran Geoff Keighley has announced Summer Game Fest, a 4-month-long event set to bring the latest from video games in 2020.
Summer Game Fest Brings The Heat
While E3 2020 is a no-show and many other video game events planning for delay or cancellation, Keighley has something else in mind. On Friday, Keighley announced Summer Game Fest, a summer-long endeavor bringing the latest news, in-game events, and other kinds of digital content.

The digital rollout begins in May with a finale scheduled for August 24. In an interview with GameIndustry.biz, Keighley notes that the intention of SGF was for every person in the games industry, from publisher to developer to gamer, to gather together and celebrate video games during the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It really bummed me out to see everything fracture. More than ever, this is a year we need a positive, uplifting center of gravity to bring this global community together,” Keighley writes.

Developers and Publishers Appearing
Along with the announcement, Keighley shares a photo of publishers and developers set to kick off the event. In the lineup, Bethesda, Bungie, CD Projekt Red, PlayStation, Xbox, Warner Bros., Square Enix, Riot Games and more are listed.
Due to the impact of COVID-19 on the world, many video game events were postponed or straight up cancelled. In response, media outlets, such as IGN, started planning their own events to make up for it. SGF is another addition to these virtual showcases, surely to get gamers as excited as years prior.
Summer Game Fest will be broadcasted across Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and more so that no one can miss out. Along with trailers and news, Keighley also says developers will make playable demos of their upcoming games available.
In a Reddit AMA, Keighley said the Summer Games Jam schedule will go live Tuesday and be ongoing. We’ll have more information as the event comes closer.
