Pokemon Unite Takes On MOBA

Pokemon Unite

Today, Nintendo announced a new Pokemon game titled Pokemon Unite. The game is being developed in partnership with Tencent developer, Timi.

Pokemon Unite is a 5-on-5, MOBA-style game that features Pokemon that can level up, evolve, and learn new moves on the field. Similar to other MOBA titles, such as Smite, the game is based on a point system based on catching wild Pokemon. The Pokemon also have “unite” moves, essentially the games’ version of a special move. Lead Producer Masaaki Hoshino suggested the game will be free-to-start, with microtransactions to purchase new Pokemon to bring to the field. Such a game should be no surprise to those familiar with the franchise. The Pokemon Company has taken the franchise to a vast array of game genres, extending its popularity.

Pokemon Unite will be available on both mobile and the Nintendo Switch. There is currently no official release date.
