The Croods Continues Box Office Dominance
For the second weekend in a row, the movie The Croods: A New Age dominated the box office. The film had no competition from any of the movies that have been out. The box office slum will continue into the new year.
Half Brothers was able to grab the second spot in its opening weekend. The movie wasn’t able to gross more than $800,000. Don’t expect this comedy to be in the top three next weekend if it can’t bring in the viewers. With more areas getting tighter restrictions, this movie might be worth watching on a streaming service. The Croods: A New Age brought in an estimated $4.4 million this weekend. That brings the domestic total to $20.3 million and the worldwide total sits at $60.5 million.
Some of the re-releases have dropped off of the box office radar. Elf is still making money as it grossed an estimated $320,000. It has grossed $1.2 million worldwide as theaters around the world are still working to get back on their feet. Die Hard and the Godfather Part Three were both out in the wild. These movies only grossed a combined $241,000 at the box office. All My Life was also released this past weekend, it was able to bring in $350,000.

Theater chains have had a rough week. Warner Bros. Pictures announced that all of the 2021 slate of movies would be available on HBO Max for one month. These movies will be avaaible in the theater during this time. AMC is one of those theater chains that is trying to fight this move. The first of those movies will be Wonder Woman 1984. It seems we have an actor cast as Solid Snake. Oscar Issac will be the main guy in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid adaption.
