First Mortal Kombat Trailer has Arrived

The first Mortal Kombat trailer has dropped this morning. Warner Bros. is giving fans a different look into the tournament we all know. Expect some epic battles.

The first thing we see is in the trailer is how Jax loses his arms. Sub-Zero easily freezes them and rips his arms off. This should be the first notion that this movie will be far more violent than the original two movies. Expect fewer cheeky moments between the characters. The trailer is age-restricted due to the violence in the movie. You will have to open a new window to watch this trailer.

Yesterday, fans were given a glace at some of the characters through motion posters. One character that was not in the posters and was in the trailer is the mighty Goro. It’s great to see that he is still the champion to beat in Mortal Kombat. Go back and rewatch the trailer to see how many characters you can count.

Mortal Kombat is Almost Here

If you’re not sure what the story is. Here is a brief synopsis from Warner Bros., take a second to read that before you watch the trailer.

MMA fighter Cole Young (Lewis Tan), accustomed to taking a beating for money, is unaware of his heritage-or why Outworld’s Emperor Shang Tsung (Chin Han) has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero (Joe Taslim), an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt Cole down. Fearing for his family’s safety, Cole goes in search of Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee) at the direction of Jax (Mehcad Brooks), a Special Forces Major who bears the same strange dragon marking Cole was born with.

Soon, he finds himself at the temple of Lord Raiden (Tadanobu Asano), an Elder God and the protector of Earthrealm, who grants sanctuary to those who bear the mark. Here, Cole trains with experienced warriors Liu Kang (Ludi Lin), Kung Lao (Max Huang), and rogue mercenary Kano (Josh Lawson), as he prepares to stand with Earth’s greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a high stakes battle for the universe. Written by Warner Bros.

Mortal Kombat is coming to theaters on April 16th. The movie will also be released on HBO Max that day.
