Delays have been a major part of the gaming industry since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in early 2020. With many developers struggling from work from home transitions and lack of ability to mo-cap due to restrictions. Many developers quickly found themselves having to change their timelines very quickly as production slowed. Deathloop is one such game, which has faced a handful of COVID-related delays. However, it appears fans won’t have to wait long to play the highly anticipated immersive sim FPS.
Today, in an official announcement from Arkane we learned that Deathloop has officially gone gold. This means that there is an official finished master copy of the game, and it can begin production. Going gold for a developer is typically the last step, before development winds down as bug fixes and tweaks will be the primary focus. A big congratulations go to the team at Arkane as we draw closer to Deathloop’s release date. Deathloop will be coming to PlayStation 5 and PC on September 14th, 2021, and PlayStation Plus members can pre-order the game still and receive a decent discount on the upcoming title. Deathloop will help kick off the incredible holiday lineup of games that are coming to wrap up the year 2021. From Halo Infinite, Battlefield 2042, and many more. This looks to be one of the most exciting holiday lineups that we have seen in a long time.
