Team Asobi Launches New Website Teasing Next Project
The closure and dismantling of the world-renown Sony Japan was a tough pill for fans to swallow. As many of the team’s talented developers have gone onto new studios and projects, out of the ashes Team Asobi has risen. The original developers of the VR masterpiece Astro Bot Rescue Mission, as well as the PlayStation 5 showcase Astro’s Playroom. As PlayStation has stated in previous press releases, they want to continue to grow Team Asobi and foster the talent within the studio naturally. Today, we got a glimpse into what the future might just hold for the studio.
As originally reported by Gematsu, Team Asobi’s new website has officially launched as the studio continues to work on its next project. While the website is currently barebones, it does give us some insight into how they plan to continue to grow the studio. With 13 currently listed job roles that span from gameplay design to audio and engine work. It is worth noting that all of these roles are entry-level positions. This likely indicates that the team has been promoted internally in order to fill out leadership roles as they continue to grow. While they are reportedly working on their most ambitious project yet. Good work culture appears to be at the forefront of the team’s mind as in the website’s “About Us” section they highlight the importance of a healthy work and life balance.

With the success of Astrobot, it is great to see Team Asobi continue to grow, and it is exciting to see what they might be working on next. Whether its the debut software for the PSVR 2 or a new IP, we are excited to see what this PlayStation studio will do next.
