Arkane Lyon Studio Head Departs After 16 Years With The Company
Change is constant within the gaming industry. With many developers having a history with many different companies throughout their careers. It is incredibly rare for a developer to stay long-term in a studio without being poached, or taking a big step forward in their career. However, there are some developers who make a team their home and become an anchor for that studio. This is a description of Arkane Lyon’s Romulad Capron who spent just over 16 years with the studio. Officially becoming Studio Director of Arkane Lyon in 2019, he was a critical leader in the shipment of the studio’s latest game Deathloop. It appears that his journey with the company has ended there.
Arkane Lyon Past and Present
Yesterday, in a post via his Linkedin profile, Capron announced his departure from Arkane Lyon after 16 years with the studio. He had nothing but love to show for his team and what they had accomplished over the past few challenging years. Stating that the team is still in very good hands and will continue to be the creative powerhouse they have become famous for.
“I’m very proud of what we accomplished with this amazing team. The successful launch of Deathloop is just another proof that Arkane has a very bright future and unique place in our industry.”
Even after 16 years, it appears that Capron has no desire to stop pursuing his passion for game development, as he later states in the post that he will have an announcement about what his future will be relatively soon.
“As for my own future, my goal is to keep on helping video game companies, and others, to make their creative vision become a reality since that’s what I love to do.”
No matter where Capron ends up, we wish him the best and look forward to the future he builds for himself. While it is undeniable Arkane Lyon lost an important member of their team, with all the talent in the studio there will no doubt be incredible games ahead for the French developers.
