It isn’t very often when a game releases and catches everyone’s interest upon its release. This is especially rare when the game is a new IP from a smaller studio, with very little marketing behind it. Though sometimes the stars align just right and a game like It Takes Two will steal the spotlight. The co-op-focused adventure game from Hazelight Studios the creative minds behind A Way Out, and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons did just this. Many early adopters of the game were blown away by the quality of the title, which translated to good word-of-mouth reviews from fans. This led to the game tracking on the NPD charts for several months and today we learned just how successful it was.
In a post from the official Hazelight Studios Twitter account, it was revealed that It Takes Two has sold over 3 million units. This is an incredible milestone as the game represents another step forward in Hazelight’s narrative storytelling direction through its gameplay. With It Takes Two climbing up many players game of the year lists, as well as charting on Steam and NPD months after launch. There is no doubt this success is deserved, and the prospect of what the studio could be working on next is incredibly exciting. We will just have to wait and see what this talented studio will cook up next.
