PAX East 2023 is here, the Lords from the Iron Lords Podcast and LOGNET are live on the show floor. One of the many games being previewed on the show floor this year is The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story.

The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story is a small indie game set within the League of Legends universe. It features Sylas the Mage. Along the way, you will encounter six other champions as well. This story follows Sylas and takes place after the current comic run LUX. As Sylas you will escape imprisonment and try to turn the tables on the ruling party which is set on ending the existence of all Mages.
The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story is being developed by a 25-person team at Digital Sun Games. Fans of indie darling Moonlighter will recognize the artwork as it is from the same developer. Plus The Mageseeker plays a lot like Moonlighter but without the shopkeeping mechanics. What the team has done with their foundation has grown miles in terms of storytelling and mechanics. Riot games have given the studio a lot of room to do some crazy things with the story.
Digital Sun has also ditched the rouge-like mechanics. The Mageseeker is a tried and true action-adventure game. I promise you, the layers of gameplay systems will be replaced with unbelievable combat and a fantastic story.
From a gameplay perspective, the Mage has the power to steal abilities, in conjunction with having four different spells and three different attacks. All of these elements can be chained and combined together for complete chaos against waves of enemies. Along with the traditional hack-and-slash dodge mechanics from Moonlighter.
Our Thoughts On The Mageseeker
In our included gameplay video, it hops around from two parts of the game slightly after the beginning. This slice covers just a small part of the game, which is somewhere between 12 and 15 hours long. The game is going to pack a ton of content. There are around 88,000 hand-crafted sprites and a fantastic score from Gareth Coker, who has worked on Ori and Halo.
If you are a fan of League of Legends or Moonlighter, you MUST play The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story. This is a fantastic game that will surprise many when it releases on April 18th on nearly all platforms.
