Sony Is Obviously Making The Last of Us Part 3

On May 26th The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog announced their The Last of Us multiplayer game would not be shown this year as promised. That message contained the telling phrase, “Our team will continue to work on the project as well as other games in development, including a brand new single-player experience.” This May, Bloomberg reported that the multiplayer game was in trouble as some of the staff had moved to other projects.

Reading into the Naughty Dog statement tells us a few things for sure. Among them include, that there are at least three games in development at Naughty Dog. One of them is considered, “a brand new single-player experience.” because they specifically did not call this a brand new IP or franchise, this tells me, it is either The Last of Us or Uncharted. I also believe the coded wording here is to tell fans that have concerns about a multiplayer The Last of Us game, hey, something else is coming for you as well, wink and nod.

News From This Week On The Last of Us Part 3

I will not be sharing screenshots or direct rips of information as it comes from behind Daniel’s Patreon account but, what he does share is a casting call for the Last of Us Part 3. The other details found within the casting call are irrelevant at this time. Unfortunately, fans are drawing conclusions from things that it does not say. With that in mind, I will not share it as it essentially says nothing but causes meaningless speculation. 

At the same time, we do not know how real this is or what this means for the series. It is possible that the multiplayer game became The Last of Us Part 3. It is equally likely that the multiplayer game is internally being called The Last of Us Part 3. This could also be one big mix up and the team is looking to cast the Last of Us season 3 on HBO. Or is this a brand new mainline game set after the Last of Us 2 as most are expecting?

While it will be years before we find out, one thing is clear, after the overwhelming success of the HBO series, it is obvious Sony is going to have Naughty Dog make The Last of Us Part 3. Plus it is clear that Naughty Dog has at least three games in development. While it will be years before we officially find out, fans should rest easy knowing it seems like a third game is coming.
