Xbox strives to innovate and bring value to its fanbase. Game Pass gives subscribers that value along with amazing new games. However, Xbox Live Gold operates differently and struggled to keep up with the current strategy of Xbox leadership. Xbox Game Pass Core aims to change that.

A New Form

Xbox Live Gold is receiving a glow-up. Game Pass Core brings an alternative model to accompany Game Pass Ultimate. Furthermore, the transition is seamless and requires no further action from Gold subscribers.

The roll-out launches on September 14th with “Games with Gold” ending on September 1st. However, any game previously redeemed/acquired will remain in your player library. The pricing model for Game Pass Core is synonymous with the aforementioned Gold. Additionally, fresh Core members will receive access to a new collection of games.

This collection will be updated periodically, and members will also obtain exclusive deals for the Xbox store. Overall, Game Pass Core offers a familiar yet better experience for Gold members, at least on paper. Gold seemed to be on the decline as Game Pass Ultimate continued to prosper.

Hopefully, the new model earns Xbox another win with the community. Be sure to check out the full blog post that includes the announced games for the Core collection here. For all things Xbox, remember to bend the knee in the realm of Lords of Gaming.
