TennoCon 2023: Whispers in the Walls Update Revealed for Warframe

TennoCon 2023 is happening right now and is celebrating ten years of Warframe during Tennolive. These annual events always focus on what is next for the game in the form of reveals both small and large. The largest reveal of the entire event was the next cinematic quest for the game, called “Whispers in the Walls”. The Whispers in the Walls update will expand upon the Necralisk in Deimos and open up a new procedurally generated zone called “The Entrati Labs”. Here is everything we learned from the reveal today.

Warframe Whispers in the Walls Details

The gameplay demo showcased over twenty minutes of the next cinematic quest for Warframe. Opening first with a mysterious new character and regally dressed Kavat. This character gets into a crypt with the Kavat and someone who appears to be his assistant smashes it closed. When the Tenno arrive in the Necralisk to investigate, the room where Loid resides opens up to reveal a secret area. This is where the more cinematic components for the quest start to happen. The Entrati Labs will feature a new faction of enemies consisting of new smaller Necramech units. As well as robotic Kavats. They showed the smaller Necramech units can be killed easier by shooting off their arms, like the larger Necramechs.

The Entrati Labs will have this mad scientists lab aesthetic focus to it. With lightning conducting between machinery that works in tandem with new global illumination lighting for this new area only. As well as desks with flasks of liquid you can shoot to create pools of damaging liquid to kill enemies. There are also parts of things called “Vessels” spread out throughout the labs tileset. These look eerily similar to The Man in the Wall. It will host not only this new faction of robotic enemies, but another enemy type as well called the Murmur, which are void entities stuck in a desert like plane of existence. Both of these new enemy types can appear outside of The Entrati Labs.

There will be a new type of secondary weapon being added to Warframe called The Grimoire. This grimoire will cast bolts or waves of void energy. As well as having an incarnon function to it. There will be more of these grimoires added and you can mod them like regular weapons. Also, there will be a whole new batch of normal Incarnon weapons like the ones from Angels of the Zariman. There will also be new mission types, including one that functions similarly to the Mirror Defense from Citirnes Last Wish.

Release Window for this Major Content Update

Some other details that they mentioned is that this update will be bringing plenty of new Captura scenes. Similar to The Duviri Paradox and other larger updates. But there will be no new Necramech types for players in this update.

Whispers in the Wall for Warframe will launch as a free content update at the end of the year. Launching simultaneously on all platforms.
