Bungie Officially Delays Expansion

Destiny 2 The Final Shape Traveller

Bungie, makers of Destiny 2, officially announced the delay of The Final Shape. This will be the final expansion of the Light and Darkness decade-long story ark. Earlier this year, Bungie missed the mark on their earnings projections by 45%. Jason Schreier gave this as the reason they laid off around 100 people.

A delay might actually be for the best. Lightfall fell short of expectations, joining several big misses this year in gaming. We’ll see when this expansion is released on June 4, 2024, if the delay was worth it. If Bungie is able to “not go gentle into that good night” the delay will be a minor blip in the long history of this game. Failing to address the criticisms leveled against them, will likely be the final ride for this once-great masterpiece.
