Overwatch is known for the diverse nature of its colorful cast. Furthermore, the developers continue to strive to create inclusive and memorable characters. Mauga aims to be the most bombastic so far.

Mauga (means mountain in Samoan) is a tank character affiliated with Talon (a terrorist organization). He is larger than life and hides a brilliant mind behind his reckless destruction.

Mauga’s brawling playstyle places him on the frontlines of battle. Additionally, his kit offers a unique route of tank play and survivability through crowd control. Mauga officially arrives next season on December 8. However, players can try him for free in the game all weekend.

Aaron Keller (Overwatch 2 game director) brought teases of what is to come. Hanamura is back with a redesign as Hanaoka. Subsequently, this is the first map for a new core PvP game mode, Clash.

Clash expands the foundation of 2 CP. Teams battle for points and territory. Once a team captures five points, the match is over. Additionally, Competitive is receiving a rework along with new rewards in 2024. Alongside that, Team Four (dev team for Overwatch) plans to release three new heroes and uniquely themed seasons. Aaron teased the main themes for each.

  • Eldritch Horror
  • Role Swap (Heroes as Villains and vice versa)
  • Witches
  • Egyptian Mythology

Overwatch 2 celebrates its first anniversary. The game has continually improved from season to season and is in a solid state despite controversies over hero balance and microtransactions. 2024 promises even more success backed by the Xbox family. Be sure to tune in for the grand finals of the Overwatch World Cup and the live performance of Le SSERAFIM this weekend. For all things Overwatch 2, bend the knee in the realm of Lords of Gaming.
