Every year, there is a game that comes out of nowhere and becomes the pillar of that year. In 2022, Elden Ring eclipsed every major AAA game and became a beacon of hope for gamers. As well as 2023 seeing the full launch of Baldur’s Gate 3 be a reminder of what RPGs should look like. However, this year, a title that came out of nowhere has already taken the crown for 2024’s biggest game. Palworld has launched only a few short days ago and has seen overwhelmingly positive reception from game’s media and most importantly, gamers. But just how big did the game actually get?
Palworld Makes History on Steam

But its success is not just in the copies sold. Palworld has been breaking records on Steam since it launched. Content Creator Benji Sales posted a breakdown of the timeline and where the concurrent player count reached by yesterday evening:

Palworld is a debut indie game from studio Pocket Pair, to reach such high numbers is practically unheard of. But one final record was broken at the time of writing, where it peaked at over a million players in the dead of night. Becoming the sixth most played game in Steams history. Beating out 2022 and 2023’s biggest games.
Palworld is currently in Early Access with a little under half a week in its life cycle. But it has already won many peoples hearts and is being enjoyed for the vast open world. As well as the survival and base building mechanics with automation that is fueled by Pals, that have a very close likeness to creatures from Pokémon. But will the game continue to break records? Or is this weekend its only growth period? Stayed into Lords of Gaming to be updated in detail!
Palworld is available now on Steam and Xbox Consoles for $29.99 and available on Xbox Game Pass.
The official Palworld Twitter account has announced they have sold five million copies of the game:
#Palworld has sold over 5 million copies in only 3 days!

This news also comes off updated player numbers reaching into nearly one million and three hundred thousand concurrent players. Suffice it to say, but the popularity of this title will continue on for days, and maybe months to come.
The success story continues with Palworld reaching six million copies sold:

Our all-time peak player count has also surpassed 1.7 million.

To cap off the news, it has officially taken the number two most played game on Steam, usurping Counter Strike: Global Offensive 2.
Pocket Pair has announced that Palworld has now sold seven million copies of the game, making the game track higher than Pokemon Legends: Arceus according to Benji Sales on Twitter:
Palworld sold 7+ Million in only 5 days. It's selling even faster than Pokémon Legends Arceus which sold 6.5m in 1 week
• 1 Million in 8 Hours
• 2 Million in 24 Hours
• 3 Million in 40 Hours
• 5 Million in 3 Days
• 6 Million in 4 Days
• 7 Million in 5 Days pic.twitter.com/Bbd9eneY7I

This would put the game on same level of popularity as the series it has drawn inspiration for its characters from. Pocket Pair has also been working on a multitude of bug fixes and improvements in the background as the sales roll in.
