Lords of Gaming and the Iron Lords Podcast are exploring the cultured world of New York Comic Con! One of the many games playable on the show floor was Bandai-Namco and Super Massive’s Little Nightmares 3.

Little Nightmares Demo
Playing single-player, I worked with an AI companion to explore a world ripped from a Tim Burton film. The moody atmosphere complemented the fantastic animation work, with the small characters moving like claymation figures.
The controls felt responsive as I jumped, climbed, and explored the linear 3D level. I was also impressed by the well-crafted level design. When playing the demo, I died a few times figuring things out.
However, you can tell each ‘puzzle’ is well-telegraphed to the player, letting them figure out how to solve puzzles at their own pace. For a Limbo-style horror adventure, conveying to the player how to solve puzzles and navigate is critical for the pacing, so Little Nightmares 3 excelling in this was great.
In addition, some of the mechanics surprised me. One was a broken umbrella, which I thought was used to solve a puzzle. But the game quickly tells you to use it for wind currents, letting you get to higher locations or glide across long gaps.
Despite the game being designed for two players, I appreciated the smart AI companion. For the puzzles that required two players, my AI companion worked with me without much prompting. This potentially ensures a great experience for both co-op and single-player players.
Performance
Something I noticed when playing the demo on the PlayStation 5’s present at the booth, the game was running at a smooth 30FPS. However, one of the screens showed the game running at 60FPS. This will likely launch with Quality and Performance Mode options for higher-end consoles, with the Switch version targeting 30FPS.
Little Nightmares 3 Booth
The booth itself was amazing, themed around the game itself. As seen from the pictures below, New York Comic-Con visitors seeing this not-so-little nightmare enjoyed an amazing, frightful experience.
Visitors attending the booth at Comic-Con could take a picture with one of the game’s massive creatures, getting both a physical picture and a copy emailed to them. As for myself, I put up a fight against the giant hand, looking silly in my picture.

Closing Thoughts
After playing the demo and loving my time visiting the booth, I am eager to enter the scary world Bandai-Namco and Super Massive are crafting for players in 2025. Expect additional coverage on Little Nightmares 3 at Lords of Gaming leading up to its 2025 launch across PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
