Sonic 3 (2024) Update – Genesis Cart, DLC for Shadow Gens and More

With Sonic 3 (2024) around the corner, one would assume the marketing cycle would slow down. The marketing team made some awesome choices, honoring the original release of Sonic 3 on the Genesis with an official Genesis cart.

That alongside a small update for the Movie 3 DLC coming to Shadow Generations on December 12th, completes the build-up to Sonic 3 (2024).

Sonic 3 (2024) Genesis Cart

Surprising everyone, SEGA and Paramount sent to media and some press outlets the first official SEGA Genesis cartridge in decades. It contains some promotional material for Sonic 3, having some new voice lines for Team Sonic, Shadow, and the human cast.

In addition, the cartarage contains a mini-game that features Sonic running away from Shadow. And if you entered the infamous Sonic 3&K Cheat Code, you unlock a small easter egg, revealing the final trailer for Sonic 3 (2024) releases on November 25th.

Sonic X Shadow Generations – Sonic 3 Movie Pack Details

Alongside this surprising marketing move for the movie, details for the Sonic 3 Movie Pack that’ll come to Sonic X Shadow Generations were revealed. Priced at $5.99 on all platforms, the movie pack is described on the Nintendo E-Shop with the following;

When transported to an unknown dimension, Shadow must race through the streets of modern-day Shibuya to defeat the forces of G.U.N. Take on a new look as Shadow and play through a unique level inspired by the new movie, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, featuring the voice of Keanu Reeves!

Interestingly, they describe the Movie Pack as one level. This implies that, unlike other zones in Shadow Generations, this might only contain one Act, contrasting with other zones in the main game.
