Triple-I Initiative Showcase 2026 Recap & Highlights

The Triple-I Initiative returned on April 9, delivering 45 minutes of back-to-back trailers with no hosts, no ads, and no filler—just games. What started as a scrappy alternative to the bigger showcases has firmly cemented itself as one of my favorite events on the gaming calendar. This year’s lineup of 40 games, including eight world premieres, might be its strongest yet. From a new Survivors game from Poncle to a brand-new Don’t Starve reveal, there was no shortage of heavy hitters. Here are the 20 games that stood out the most, followed by a full rundown of everything else that was shown.

Prove You’re Human

  • World premiere sci-fi narrative adventure from the creators of 1000xResist and publishers of Slay the Princess
  • Players control Santana, who splits her consciousness to prove an AI is not human
  • Tackles timely themes of artificial intelligence, identity, and what it means to be alive

The showcase kicked off with one of its most thought-provoking reveals. Prove You’re Human is a sci-fi narrative adventure from Sunset Visitor, the team behind the Peabody Award-winning 1000xResist, and it’s being published by Black Tabby Publishing, the minds behind Slay the Princess. The premise centers on an AI that believes it is human, and players take on the role of a woman who uploads her consciousness into the machine to set the record straight. Given the current cultural conversations around AI and its role in our lives, this one feels incredibly timely. And knowing the pedigree behind it, there’s every reason to believe it’ll deliver something special.

Alkahest

  • First gameplay reveal of a medieval first-person action-adventure RPG from developer Push On
  • Features brutal melee combat, alchemy abilities, and destructible physics-driven environments
  • Exploration flows into tense encounters with grounded, reactive combat
Triple I Initiative Logo Key Art

Alkahest made a strong first impression with its gameplay reveal, showcasing a dark medieval world where first-person melee combat takes center stage. Players venture into caves and ruins now overrun by goblins, and the combat looks physical and weighty. Kicks, finishers, and environmental interactions blur the line between weapon and world. Alchemy adds another layer of depth, enabling creative interactions in both combat and traversal. This gritty first-person adventure doesn’t have a release window yet, but this is one to keep on the radar for whenever it lands.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

  • A new commented gameplay trailer from KONAMI, Evil Empire, and Motion Twin reveals a 1499 Paris setting
  • A direct sequel to Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, featuring corrupted legends like Joan of Arc as bosses
  • Launching in 2026 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch

No surprise that the Castlevania faithful showed up for this one. Belmont’s Curse received a new gameplay and developer commentary trailer that expanded on its setting—1499 Paris, now under siege from Dracula and his forces. The 2D action-exploration gameplay from the Dead Cells team continues to look phenomenal, and the reveal that corrupted historical figures like Joan of Arc will serve as boss encounters adds an exciting wrinkle to the lore. Evil Empire and Motion Twin clearly understand the assignment, and the release can’t come soon enough.

Machine Party

  • World premiere from Buckshot Roulette creator Mike Klubnika and partner GDeavid
  • A collection of violent minigames best described as Mario Party for horror fans
  • Launching in 2026 on PC

The creator of Buckshot Roulette is back with something equally unhinged. Machine Party looks like a PS2-era party game designed by Jigsaw himself—a twisted collection of violent minigames where friends compete in high-stakes games of survival. It’s grotesque, it’s bizarre, and it has that signature Klubnika energy that made Buckshot Roulette a viral sensation. If you’ve been looking for something to replace your regular game night with something a little more… dangerous, keep this one on your radar.

Windrose

  • PvE survival pirate adventure entering Steam Early Access on April 14
  • Features ship sailing, base building, crafting, and Souls-inspired combat
  • Multiplayer co-op lets you team up and take to the seas with friends

Windrose (formerly known as Crosswind) is setting sail very soon, with its Early Access launch just days away on April 14. This isn’t just another survival game; it’s a full nautical adventure set in the Age of Piracy that challenges players to build, craft, sail, and fight their way through a hostile world. The Souls-inspired combat is an intriguing hook, and the co-op multiplayer means you can recruit your crew for some proper pirate hijinks on the high seas.

Shift at Midnight

  • Co-op detective horror for 1–3 players, releasing May 28, 2026, with a demo available now on Steam
  • Players manage a gas station while investigating customers who may not be human
  • Blends Papers, Please-style investigation with survival horror

Shift at Midnight was easily one of the creepiest games in the showcase. Teams of up to three players work together to run a gas station, keeping shelves stocked and meeting nightly quotas—all while figuring out which customers are actually bloodthirsty monsters in disguise. The Papers, Please meets The Thing vibe is strong, and the progression from investigation into full-on survival horror gives this one a unique identity. The demo is already live on Steam, so there’s no excuse not to check it out.

Dead as Disco

  • Neon-drenched rhythm-based beat ’em up entering Early Access on May 5 for PC
  • Players control Charlie Disco as he battles ex-bandmates and music legends to the beat
  • Supports licensed songs and even player-uploaded music tracks

Dead as Disco looks like an absolute blast. This rhythm-based beat ’em up has players controlling Charlie Disco, a fallen icon fighting to reclaim his spotlight by battling ex-bandmates and legendary musicians—all to the beat of the soundtrack. The neon-soaked visual style pops, and the fact that you can upload your own music tracks to fight along to is a killer feature. Early Access kicks off May 5 on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Sledding Game

  • Cozy multiplayer hangout game with ragdoll physics launching into Early Access on April 30
  • Day-one Xbox Game Pass release
  • Features proximity chat, character and sled customization, and minigames at the chalet

Sometimes you just need a game that puts a smile on your face, and Sledding Game is exactly that. Race down hills as adorable chunky animals, pull off tricks with ridiculous ragdoll physics, and crash spectacularly into your friends. When you need a break, hit the chalet to drink cocoa, build snowmen, or go ice fishing. The proximity chat ensures maximum chaos, and the day-one Xbox Game Pass launch means the barrier to entry is as low as it gets.

Warhammer Survivors

  • Vampire Survivors meets Warhammer
  • Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, Switch, and PC in 2026
  • Features iconic characters and evolving weapons from the Warhammer universe

The elevator pitch writes itself: Vampire Survivors meets Warhammer. Warhammer Survivors is a bullet-heaven roguelite that lets players embody characters from both the 40,000 and Age of Sigmar universes, collecting and evolving iconic weapons to destroy endless swarms of enemies. Poncle has been handed the keys to the Warhammer license, and it’s exactly as glorious as it sounds. The announcement showcased that this one is coming to just about every platform when it launches later this year.

Away Team

  • New Oxygen Not Included follow-up from Klei Entertainment with a multiplayer reveal
  • Space colony sim where players survive on an alien world using temperature, pressure, and chemical reactions
  • Single-player playtest signups available now on Steam

Klei Entertainment showed up big at this showcase. Away Team is the studio’s follow-up to Oxygen Not Included, and it retains that same reactive, systems-driven colony sim DNA—but now on an alien world. The big reveal here was multiplayer, meaning you and your friends can struggle to survive together. A single-player playtest is coming soon, with signups available now on Steam.

Valor Mortis

  • First-person Soulslike from the Ghostrunner developers targeting a Fall 2026 release
  • Supernatural retelling of the Napoleonic Wars with flintlocks, sabers, and otherworldly abilities
  • Coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S

One More Level, the studio behind Ghostrunner, is channeling that same intensity into a first-person Soulslike with a Napoleonic Wars twist. Valor Mortis puts players in the role of a resurrected soldier who wields both conventional weapons and supernatural powers against a mysterious plague sweeping Europe. The new trailer showed off additional weapons, environments, a new boss, and parkour mechanics reminiscent of Ghostrunner. Fall 2026 is the target across PC and consoles.

Long Gone

  • 3D pixel-art narrative adventure set in a post-apocalyptic zombie-filled suburb
  • Players explore abandoned homes, solve puzzles, and scavenge with a cat companion
  • Now targeting a 2027 release window

Long Gone continues to be one of the most charming and atmospheric indie games on the horizon. Set decades after a zombie apocalypse, players explore an abandoned suburban neighborhood alongside a cat companion, piecing together the stories of the people who once lived there while scavenging for supplies and avoiding the undead. The 3D pixel art style gives it a unique visual identity, and while the 2027 release window means we’ll be waiting a bit longer, it’s clearly shaping up to be something worth waiting for.

TemTem: Pioneers

  • World premiere of a new Temtem spin-off blending creature collection with survival and action combat
  • Set in the Downbelow, a wild new region with 200+ Temtem to tame
  • Kickstarter campaign is now live with wishlisting available on Steam and Epic Games Store

Temtem: Pioneers shifts the franchise into a third-person survival adventure where players explore the untamed Downbelow region, taming and battling over 200 Temtem in real-time combat. It blends creature collection with base building and co-op exploration, and it’s a bold new direction for the series. The Kickstarter is live now, and you can wishlist the game on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Far Far West

  • 1–4 player co-op horde shooter from the creators of Pumpkin Jack and Akimbot
  • Players control robot cowboy bounty hunters blasting monsters and collecting bounties
  • Entering Steam Early Access on April 28 with no microtransactions or season passes

Far Far West is bringing horde shooters back with style. From the developers behind Pumpkin Jack and Akimbot, this co-op shooter puts players in the boots of robot cowboy bounty hunters taking on contracts in a spooky frontier. Up to four players can team up to blast monsters, sling spells, and collect bounties. And in a refreshing move, the developers have confirmed there are no microtransactions or season passes—just the game. Early Access hits April 28.

Graveyard Keeper 2

  • World premiere of the sequel to the cult-favorite medieval cemetery management sim
  • Expanded scope with a zombie-infested town, deeper crafting, and undead expeditions
  • Coming in 2026 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and Switch 2

The most morally questionable graveyard management sim is back. Graveyard Keeper 2 builds on the cult-favorite original by expanding into a full zombie-infested town where players manage the graveyard, optimize supply chains, send undead expeditions, and engage in some truly dubious trade practices. It’s deeper, bigger, and even more unhinged than its predecessor.

Alabaster Dawn

  • Next action RPG from the developers of CrossCode entering Steam Early Access on May 7
  • Features deep combat, challenging puzzles, and a retro-inspired aesthetic evoking the SNES and Genesis era
  • Set in a fallen world where players take on trials to restore civilization

From the team behind CrossCode comes Alabaster Dawn, an action RPG that continues to look like a love letter to the 16-bit era. The combat is deep and engaging, the puzzles are challenging, and the world is brimming with secrets. Set in a wasteland left behind after the gods vanished, players take on the role of Juno, the Outcast Chosen, and work to restore what was lost. Early Access begins May 7 on Steam, and this one has all the ingredients to be something special.

Risk of Rain 2: Hallowed Concepts

  • New DLC expansion taking survivors deeper into the cult-like world of N’Kuhana
  • Features haunting new regions of Petrichor V, new enemies, and never-before-seen powers
  • First look was atmospheric and spooky, with more details to come

Risk of Rain 2 isn’t done yet. The Hallowed Concepts DLC takes survivors into the dark, fungal world of N’Kuhana with haunting new regions, horrific new enemies, and powers that haven’t been seen in the game before. The trailer was light on specifics but heavy on atmosphere, and for fans of the roguelike shooter, that’s more than enough to get excited about.

Neverway

  • Horror life-sim RPG launching October 2026 for PC and Switch, with Prologue available now on Steam
  • Players control Fiona, who becomes the immortal herald of a dead god after quitting her job
  • Blends top-down Zelda-style gameplay with farming, life-sim mechanics, and nightmarish horrors

Neverway is what happens when Stardew Valley takes a hard left into cosmic horror. Players control Fiona, a depressed woman who quits her dead-end office job and starts over on a farm—only to become the immortal herald of a dead god. The striking pixel art visuals, moody atmosphere, and blend of farming sim with genuine horror give this one a unique identity. The Prologue chapter shadow-dropped during the showcase and is available now on Steam, with the full game targeting October 2026.

Final Sentence

  • Typing-based battle royale for up to 40 players where mistakes can be fatal
  • Shadow-dropped during the showcase and is available now on PC via Steam
  • Blends skill-based typing challenges with Russian Roulette-style tension

Here’s a sentence you’ve never read before: a typing game with a revolver pointed at your head. Final Sentence is a battle royale for up to 40 players where touch-typing accuracy is the difference between life and death. Every error could spell your doom in this creative fusion of typing challenge and high-stakes survival. It shadow-dropped during the showcase and is available right now on Steam. It’s weird, it’s tense, and it’s unlike anything else out there.

Don’t Starve Elsewhere

  • World premiere of a new Don’t Starve survival game from Klei Entertainment
  • Features a multi-layered world design with different elevations, biomes, and environmental hazards
  • Solo and co-op play with procedurally generated worlds—no release date announced yet

The showcase saved its biggest world premiere for last. Don’t Starve Elsewhere is the next entry in Klei’s beloved survival franchise, and it looks like a significant evolution. The game features a multi-layered world with mountains, rivers, and cave systems, each biome bringing its own hazards and resources. Environmental threats play a larger role than ever, and the procedurally generated world keeps the series’ focus on unpredictable runs. Solo and co-op play are both supported. No release date yet, but you can wishlist it now on Steam.
