In 2021, Afterburner Studios released their debut title, Dreamscaper, to a positive reception amongst gamers and critics alike (including Lords of Gaming). Ever since then, the developers have been heads down and silent about their newest title under Focus Home Interactive, that is, until Gamescom yesterday. Gamescom was filled with many trailers for games both big and small. But one of the highlights was definitely the announcement of Elta: Defy All Gods, despite its short trailer. Here are the highlights from its reveal yesterday!
What We Know So Far About Elta: Defy All Gods
Let’s start with the basics: this is going to be a stylized third-person action-adventure game with a heavy emphasis on melee combat and platforming that weaves different mechanics together. Such as double jumping, grappling hooks, and wall running. The melee combat is described as explosive with different martial arts stances, and the few snippets of gameplay shown reflect that. With heavy punches, drop kicks, and abilities mixed in from the player character Victus, with a little dragon god companion named Elta on its shoulder that can spit fire or freeze foes.
When it comes to exploring in Elta: Defy All Gods, the game’s Steam page lists the following:
Explore three sprawling worlds featuring derelict temples and industrial ruins, all filled with hidden paths, secrets and collectibles. Weave your way across icy cliffs, desert canyons and cloud islands thanks to an evolving traversal toolkit.
Finally, there are going to be unlockable skills and techniques. But not just for Victus; there will also be new skills you can unlock for Elta. All of this will serve the combat and how you take on the different types of foes in the game.
The game is slated to launch in the first few months of 2027. Elta: Defy All Gods will also have a playable demo starting on October 1st. The demo will be available on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. There is no confirmed price for the game at this time.
