What is Magic: The Gathering A Perfectly Normal Superdrop?
Wizards of the Coast has revealed the next collection coming to Magic: The Gathering’s Secret Lair, and despite its name, there is quite a lot happening. Magic: The Gathering A Perfectly Normal Superdrop Secret Lair goes on sale on August 31, bringing together eight limited drops featuring everything from Marvel characters and pets to Lofi Girl and several celebrated artists.
Originally announced during MagicCon Amsterdam, Magic: The Gathering A Perfectly Normal Superdrop features work from Ian Miller, Gene Luen Yang, Robin Eisenberg, and Dan Hipp. The collection also continues Magic: The Gathering’s collaboration with Marvel through three separate drops, including one dedicated entirely to Hulk. Here is everything included in the upcoming Superdrop.

Artist Series: Ian Miller
Legendary fantasy illustrator Ian Miller receives his own Artist Series as part of Magic: The Gathering A Perfectly Normal Superdrop. The drop includes:
- Shivan Dragon
- Animar, Soul of Elements
- Korvold, Fae-Cursed King
- Tsabo Tavoc

Secret Lair x Lofi Girl: Beats to Cast To

- Starfield of Nyx as “Snowman Starfield”
- Careful Study
- Merchant Scroll as “Grandma’s Scroll”
- Paradise Mantle as “Cozy Headphones”
Marvel’s Pets Take Over Secret Lair
The first of three Marvel drops focuses not on the Avengers or X-Men themselves, but some of the animals and unusual companions from across the Marvel universe. Secret Lair x Marvel: Earth’s Mightiest Pets features Lockjaw, Jeff the Land Shark, Throg, Lockheed, and Devil Dinosaur.
The drop includes:

Marvel Meets Dan Hipp
Artist Dan Hipp puts his recognizable, colorful, and expressive style on several Marvel characters for the third Marvel-focused collection. Hipp’s artwork should be particularly familiar to Marvel Snap players, where his distinctive interpretations of Marvel characters have become a popular part of the game’s card variants.

The included cards are:
- Mystical Dispute

The final collection takes a very different approach to Marvel by focusing on some of its most memorable relationships. Secret Lair x Marvel: True Believers in Love presents its characters through dramatic romance-comic-inspired covers. Featured couples include Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, Ben Grimm and Alicia Masters, Captain America and Peggy Carter, Wiccan and Hulkling, Thanos and Death, and Rogue and Gambit.
The drop includes:

A Little Bit of Everything
A Perfectly Normal Superdrop certainly lives up to the second half of its name, bringing a wide variety of styles and properties together under the Secret Lair banner. While I personally am not a giant fan of Secret Lairs, I can still appreciate the creativity and variety on display with this collection.
Whether players are interested in the Marvel collaborations, the laid-back Lofi Girl crossover, Journey to the West, or the work of artists such as Ian Miller and Robin Eisenberg, the eight drops offer something very different from one another. With the collection going on sale August 31, Magic fans will soon have another limited Secret Lair release to consider adding to their collections.
