Gamescom 2026 was filled with announcements, gameplay demos, and more from developers both big and small. For every showing of games like Fable, we got announcements like Elta: Defy All Gods. But during Opening Night Live, CD Projekt Red announced not only a new DLC for their critically acclaimed RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but a complete remaster of the title that revamps so much of the game for the low price of free. Here is everything we learned from the announcements!
What we Know About the Remaster for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its new DLC
To start things off with the obvious, the remastered version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is going to come with a whole slew of changes. Of course, the game will look better. But it will also feature tons of gameplay improvements. Such as combat, traversal, mount controls, and even how skill trees are laid out. The best part is that the remastered version of the game will be free for all owners of the game. Whether you bought it at $10 or $60 on your preferred platform, you will get this version for free on September 29th. A full trailer containing more details can be found here.
If all of that wasn’t exciting enough. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be getting a brand new DLC for the game. Yes, you read that right, even after over a decade of continued support for the game, CD Projekt Red is making one more DLC. It is called “Songs of the Past,” and it will feature new quests, a new region called Letten, and a big mystery to uncover. The coolest part of the trailer was Geralt using a chain whip to pull an enemy to him before decapitating them.
While we know that the remastered version of the game will be free, there is no current price or concrete release date beyond being confirmed for next year. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is currently on sale for $24.99 on GoG until September 10th, and $49.99 everywhere else.
