Mythic Achievements Update Has Rolled Out To Xbox Insiders

Mythic Achievements

What are XBOX Mythic Achievements?

The XBOX achievements system introduced a meta-game to the gaming industry back in 2005. This allowed players to unlock displayable rewards to showcase that they had completed specific tasks or events within their favourite games. From beating a game on the hardest difficulty to killing enemies in a specific way, developers became creative with these achievements.

Sony soon followed suit 3 years later, adding trophies for players to earn, with a coveted “Platinum” trophy for collecting all of the trophies in a title. Now, in 2026, almost every ecosystem has some form of meta-game tracking system. However, for the first time in a long time, it appears that XBOX will be overhauling the achievement system in a big way with Mythic Achievements.

In a blog post released today, it was revealed that Xbox Insiders will gain access to “Mythic Achievements”. These mythic achievements will appear for players who 100% complete all achievements in a title. Previously, players who unlocked all of the achievements in a title would simply 100% the game on their player card. However, if the game had DLC or additional content, it would often affect whether a player could achieve 100% completion. It appears that Xbox has addressed this, stating the following:

You earn a Mythic Achievement when you complete all original achievements for a game. Achievements added later through DLC or updates aren’t required, and once you’ve earned Mythic status, it’s yours to keep.

Achievement Hunters Rejoice

I can almost hear the cheering of achievement hunters everywhere with this announcement. As DLC and updates have long been the bane of an achievement hunter’s existence, these updates would take away your 100% completion previously. It appears that XBOX has taken this feedback to heart and catered this update directly to the achievement-hunting community.

Mythic Achievements are currently live for XBOX Insiders, with no current timeline for release to the general public. However, it would be safe to assume that we should see this update roll out in the next couple of weeks to XBOX users around the globe.
