Developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios, famous for its flagship Yakuza series, has taken on the task of revitalizing the VIRTUA FIGHTER franchise with the 6th entry in the series: VIRTUA FIGHTER CROSSROADS.
Yesterday, SEGA released the latest trailer for VIRTUA FIGHTER CROSSROADS featuring its new story character: Lionel Rafale. Lionel is described as a mysterious young martial artist who has arrived in the city of Vilasapara, capable of outclassing Cielo in a street fight.

What is VIRTUA FIGHTER CROSSROADS?
VIRTUA FIGHTER CROSSROADS is an all-new installment in the iconic Virtua Fighter game series that takes the fighting game genre and blends it with an action-adventure experience and a narrative not unfamiliar to those already fans of the studio’s Yakuza or Like A Dragon series.
Spurred by his reelection campaign, President Bato seeks to bring the underground fighting tournament of Vilasapara to the world stage as a national sport. This happens to coincide with a recent series of attacks on martial artists by a man dubbed The Bakunawa Killer.
It is at this crossroads that the fates of four strangers will intersect, causing phantoms from decades past to begin to stir, and changing the city of Vilasapara forever.

Who Is Lionel Rafale?
While not explicitly stated in the trailer, Lionel Rafale appears to be the son of veteran character Lion Rafale. Introduced in Virtua Fighter 2, he was born into the Rafale family, one of the wealthiest families in France. Lion, as well as Lionel, practice the Northern Praying Mantis style of martial arts.

VIRTUA FIGHTER CROSSROADS is scheduled to release in 2027. With no definite release date as of now; it will release on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
