During Xbox’s press conference Sunday, Obsidian Entertainment delivered a fun narrative trailer to their upcoming title. The Outer Worlds has been in development since prior to Microsoft’s acquisition. Despite this, The Outer Worlds is still expected to release on PlayStation’s consoles as well. For that reason, this should be good news for gamers of any platform.

If the game looks very Fallout-like, you would be partially right. Obsidian Entertainment was the developer behind the hit Fallout spinoff, New Vegas. Though their pedigree does not stop there as they also are responsible for many franchise favorites such as South Park: Stick of Truth, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II & Pillars of Eternity. Needless to say, storytelling is something Obsidian is very good at.

The Outer Worlds looks to provide gamers with options, to choose your path. This is very similar to the dialogue choice options that were found in Fallout New Vegas. The trailer further indicates this by suggesting that you have the option to be the hero or a psychopath. In many scenes, the game even seems to give a very Borderlands-like vibe, in a good way. Color pallets look vibrant, the future looks dystopian and the characters seem to be reactionary. So what path will you choose?

The Outer Worlds releases on October 25th, 2019.
