Following a successful early-access launch on December 6th, Indiana Jones & The Great Circles first major update is live on all platforms.

Fixing bugs and minor issues were cited, and Path Tracing support for PC players was added. The game is primed and ready for its standard December 9th launch for Game Pass Ultimate users, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Indiana Jones Day-One Patch Live

The first major patch for Indiana Jones & The Great Circle is now live, which adds minor fixes for bugs and other minor issues. The full breakdown can be found here, but the most important added feature is Path Tracing support for PC players.

People with NVIDIA cards can enjoy full Ray Tracing, though to utilize the feature, the video card must support 12GB of VRAM or higher. Despite the high requirements for PC players, the game is very well optimized on all platforms. So the Full Ray Tracing support likely will be optimized similarly to how the Ray Tracing Global Illumination is currently for Indiana Jones.

Performance of Indiana Jones on Console

While not part of the update, going over performance on Series X/S should be celebrated. The fact we have a game on both consoles running at 60FPS while supporting Ray Tracing Global Illumination is impressive.

More so considering this is accomplished on Series S-level hardware, as cited by Digital Foundry. They point out how well it runs across both platforms, not even requiring VRR to iron out the minor FPS drops.

Closing Thoughts

I’m excited to play this on December 9th, as I hope to finish 2024 with a bang. But seeing it perform so well on console is shocking, considering how demanding the PC spec list appeared.

When so many games this generation launch with lackluster frame rates or fail to hit their targets, with even upcoming exclusives potentially not hitting 60FPS, the fact Indiana Jones does makes me quite happy.
