Destiny 2 Battle.net Players Given Move Date To Steam

Bungie has revealed the official move date for Destiny 2 Battle.net players to migrate their accounts to Steam. On September 17, 2017, Bungie will accommodate the transfer of all characters, gear, and progress to Steam. This move will coincide with the release date of the Destiny 2 Shadowkeep expansion. In preparation for this Bungie has created a PC migration website page where Blizzard players can register to be notified of more preparatory steps.

Here are some additional details regarding the migration:

  • Destiny 2 Battle.net to Steam will include a one-time transfer of ALL ownership rights that a player already owns (Expansions, Silver, Account, Seasons, etc.)
  • Players may purchase Destiny 2: Shadowkeep from Steam’s product page now, and migrate their account at a later date.

Bungie has indicated they will provide more details as they get closer to September 17th. In addition to this migration, cross-save is another major feature being added with the release of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep. Bungie’s messaging will have to be extremely clear as they look to migrate and merge different player bases. I’m definitely looking forward to how all of these moving parts come together in September.
