FFXIV Patch 5.5, PS5 version Open Beta Launch April 13
Along with the Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker expansion reveal, Square Enix announced the release date for Patch 5.5 as well as an Open Beta for PS5.
The next major FFXIV update, Death Unto Dawn, is scheduled to release on April 13. According to Square Enix, Patch 5.5 will be split into two parts, serving as introductory stories to the Endwalker expansion. Part one will include the third chapter of the YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse, the NieR-inspired alliance raid. Part two will release at the end of May, after the Digital Fan Fest on May 15 and 16.

Final Fantasy XIV‘s Patch 5.5 will include
- New Main Scenario Quests
- The third chapter of the NieR-inspired YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse alliance raid series
- “Sorrow of Werlyt” Questline Update
- Trial: The Cloud Deck – Includes both Normal and Extreme difficulties
- Paglth’an Dungeon
- “Save the Queen” Questline Update – Includes new field “Zadnor” and the Resistance Weapons’ final upgrade
- New Unreal Trial
- Crafter Updates – New content in Patch 5.5 for high-level crafters
- Ishgard Restoration Update – Locals of The Firmament will periodically hold “Fêtes” (French word for “a celebration or festival”) part to celebrate the completion of the restoration
- Explorer Mode Update – Expanded to feature additional dungeons and players will be able to do performance actions, like playing musical instruments
- Performance Action Updates – New instrument and the ability to change instruments while performing
- Job Adjustments for PvE and PvP Actions
- New Custom Deliveries
- Ocean Fishing Update, additional Mounts and more
PS5 Open Beta Launches Same Day as FFXIV Patch 5.5
Square Enix is holding an open beta for FFXIV on PS5, releasing on April13 as well. The PlayStation 5 version will feature improved frame rates, faster load times, 4K resolution support and will be free to FFXIV Online account with a registered license to the PS4 version.
