The gaming industry is always filled with constant surprises, it is one of the most exciting aspects of covering video games. Just when you think that you have everything figured out, a piece of news will come out that feels like it comes out of nowhere. Today, this exact thing happened with the announcement of a partnership between Bloober Team and historic Japanese publisher Konami.
Bloober Team Looks To The Future
In a blog post on Bloober Team’s official website, we learned that they will be partnering with Konami to exchange know-how and joint development on selected content. For those that aren’t familiar, Konami has a wealth of IP that has laid dormant for quite some time. With such historic IPs as Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, and many more, it’s exciting to see Konami partnering with a developer again. Hideki Hayakawa the Representative Director of Konami had this to say about the partnership.
“We have been providing unique entertainment content and ways to enjoy it through the use of information technology. In the digital entertainment industry, significant changes in the business environment are expected in the future. We look forward to combining Bloober Team’s and our respective characteristics and strengths to create high-quality contents.”
While in the post, there is no official indication on what exactly this partnership will yield in terms of what kind of game or games we could see from this collaboration. However, given Bloober’s history of making horror games, as well as openly admitting to taking inspiration from Silent Hill. Many people have jumped to the conclusion that Bloober will likely be working on the next installment in the long-running horror franchise. That certainly would feel like a great fit for this partnership, but in terms of official information, we will have to wait and see. Here is hoping we will get clarification in the coming months.
