A Change is Coming to DC Entertainment
It looks like some change is finally coming to DC Entertainment. After years of inconsistent movies that haven’t always been the best. Fortunately, the new Warner Bros. and Discovery merger might end all that.
As reported in Variety, it seems that Warner Bros. Discovery is looking to make things a little more constant with DC Entertainment. Unsurprisingly, since the start of the DCEU, things haven’t always been great. From movies that need a new cut to make the fans happy. Or to create a stand-alone movie that brings in billions. Nothing has been flowing as it should. Luckily, David Zaslav, the CEO of this newly merged company is looking to fix all that.
Change is on the Way for DC Entertainment
One thing that Marvel has done right stands behind one leader. Kevin Feige has brought fans ten years of fantastic material from the original Iron Man to the Moon Knight on Disney+. I can’t believe it took this long for this to happen. Yet, after all the success we’ve seen from different pieces of the DC universe, we might finally get something wonderful. It seems strange that it took this merger to get the wheels spinning. Take this chunk of the article I took from Variety. This has been something fans have been talking about for years.
Insiders say that Zaslav believes that the success of the merger, one that has left the company highly leveraged, will rest in no small part on unlocking the full potential of the DC Comics universe of characters. Discovery insiders believe that although DC has achieved cinematic success with recent films such as “Aquaman” and “The Batman”, it lacks a coherent creative and brand strategy. Discovery believes that several top-shelf characters such as Superman have been left to languish and need to be revitalized. They also believe that projects like Todd Phillips’ “Joker” are a shining example of how second-billed characters from the DC library can and should be exploited (Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn is another example).
One thing to think about is that David Zaslav’s contract will expire in 2023. It will be interesting to see if he continues as CEO or will someone else take the reigns?
Hopefully, we will finally get the DCEU that we all want. Bring back our Superman and stop messing around with all these inconsistent moments. They just need to find a great way to connect everything. Let us know how you feel about this news in the comment section below.
