It is very rare that we get to see insight into how games look at different stages of their development. Publishers and developers are understandably cagey about sharing the early builds of their games, as often it might not showcase the product in the best light at the time. As well as a game can drastically change over the course of a development cycle from what the early alpha footage looks like. However, sometimes that early footage leaks out and we get to see a glimpse of what the base of a game looks like in development. It appears that the heavily rumored Horizon Forbidden West multiplayer title may have just had some early development footage leaked.

Horizon Forbidden West Multiplayer Alpha Footage

Originally shared to the Horizon official subreddit by user BirdonWheels then boosted on Twitter by Rebs Gaming. It appears that some very early Horizon Forbidden West multiplayer footage has been released. The original Reddit post showcases 12 minutes of footage from 2020 that displays an almost cartoony-styled art Horizon world. Within the footage, we get to see a variety of different characters being controlled as they navigate an open-world environment. Not only do we get to see the characters in motion, but there is also a variety of hostile machines that attack the player during the demonstration. At the very end, we even see some hostile human interactions as the player takes several hits from a hostile bandit-type enemy.

It is important to keep in mind that this is early alpha footage, and this might not be representative of what the final game will look like from Guerilla Games. It does, however, offer players insight into what we might see in the future from Guerilla in regards to this multiplayer open-world game. Players will likely be using a diverse cast of characters or perhaps a created character to explore and hunt machines within the world. There feels like an endless amount of possibilities for this future title. Hopefully, we will get to see official footage in the game sooner rather than later.
