Peter Parker and Miles Morales swing back onto PlayStation with Spider-Man 2 this fall.
Sony announced the release window during their PlayStation Showcase. Insomniac Games’ upcoming release finished off the presentation. We saw Peter, showing off the famous Symbiote Suit, and Miles tracking Dr. Curt Connors, the Lizard. They were not the only ones, as Kraven the Hunter is keeping pace with the webbed duo.
Gameplay switched back and forth between the two Spider-Men. Peter’s suit notably showed the Symbiotic flair in its webbing, and violence. Both Spider-Men could glide with their respective suits, dubbed Web Wings.
While we did get confirmation of a launch window, Insomniac did confirm there is no confirmed launch date. Insomniac wrote in a blog post released after the showcase:
“We know you have been patiently awaiting more information about the game, including when you will be playing it at home. While we can’t confirm a date today, we are on track for Fall 2023, and hope to be able to share a final release date soon. Stay tuned for future updates on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, including edition information and pre-orders.”
Insomniac Games stands as a marquee Sony Studio. The studio also originally developed Spyro, Ratchet & Clank, and Sunset Overdrive. Ratchet’s last adventure, Rift Apart, earned high praise in 2021 and earned numerous award nominations. After Spider-Man 2, they plan on developing a Wolverine game, also based on a Marvel character.
Marvel Comic’s famed web-slinger also has some big appearances this year. Along with Spider-Man 2, Sony’s Across the Spider-Verse releases on June 1st. The animated feature follows 2018’s Oscar-winning Into the Spider-Verse, and follows Miles Morales.
