The last few months have been a rollercoaster ride for the Xbox platform. Everything from the CMA blocking the Activision Blizzard deal, to some questioning Xbox leadership after the Redfall debacle, to the EU breathing life again into the ABK acquisition after approving it. Needless to say, if you’re an Xbox fan, recent times were turbulent to put it lightly. But now, we are in the midst of the much-beloved summer gaming convention season.
To say this year’s Xbox showcase is highly anticipated is an understatement. Fans are through the roof with hype and anticipation. This year’s Xbox Showcase promises to deliver to fans what they’ve been longing for, quality first-party games. During the Xbox Showcase, fans got a glimpse of Overwatch 2: Invasion and more.

Overwatch is no stranger to controversy. Previously, the studio announced the cancellation of a promised PvE mode for Overwatch 2. However, the team did promise similar experiences to expand the world’s story would be coming. The Xbox showcase revealed Overwatch 2: Invasion. This is the debut of new story missions and bringing all new content to the game.
These missions focus on the ongoing battle with Null Sector, a rogue terrorist group of machines. Winston calls in retired members of the original Overwatch team and new members to help bring new life. They must band together to stop Null Sector and prevent the continued kidnappings of Omnics.
New Ways to Play
Additionally, the game is receiving new modes alongside Overwatch 2: Invasion. Flashpoint is a brand new PvP mode focusing on zone control. There are also feature maps tailored to Flashpoint. A dedicated firing range mode and Hero trials promise a test of player skill and mastery over their favorite hero. Players can expect new co-op events to play as the story continues. Lastly, the trailer ends with a sneak preview of the next support hero to join the roster.
Players can enjoy all of Overwatch 2: Invasion story missions and new content come August 10th. Xbox also gives access to the “New Heroes Starter Pack” with Game Pass Ultimate.
