The Game Awards 2023: Release Window For Metaphor ReFantazio

The Game Awards are back. A one-night-only celebration of all things gaming live from the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Today, December 7th, the best games from the year will be recognized and a ton of game announcements will be made. With that, we have a look at Metaphor ReFantazio.

 

Metaphor ReFantazio is a brand new JRPG from the minds behind Persona 3 through Persona 5. The new trailer showcases some gameplay along with the release window. That is right, Metaphor ReFantazio will launch on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox this upcoming fall. Fans of the Persona series will notice a similar art style as Persona 5. Unlike Persona 5, Metaphor ReFantazio has a brighter and wider color palette. The new trailer gives us a look at three settings, a castle, a desert, and a city. The combat system looks just like Persona 5 but, there is one moment of open-world combat shown.

2024 is going to be an amazing year for JRPGs. The year will start with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Following that we will get Dragon’s Dogma 2 this March. Finally, in “Autumn” of 2024, we will have Metaphor ReFantazio.

Our story takes place in The United Kingdom of Euchronia, where the assassination of the king brings chaos and unrest to the land.

Then, one fateful day, a magic known only to the king called the Royal Magic is invoked, and the world becomes embroiled in a royal tournament for the throne.

In the midst of this, the protagonist, together with his partner, the fairy Galica, must find a way to break the curse that has been placed on the prince that the kingdom believes to be dead. To do so, they depart on a journey across the vast land.

They will discover that in order to achieve their goal, they must participate in the tournament for the throne, and this great task shall require them to ally with many friends and followers of the various tribes inhabiting the world.

Additionally, ATLUS will host a special YouTube live broadcast in Japan (Japanese language only) for the game on Monday 11th December at 11:30am GMT, that will feature guests from the Japanese VA cast including, Natsuki Hanae as Protagonist, Sumire Morohoshi as Gallica, Kensho Ono as Strohl, and Saori Hayami as Hulkenberg.
