Launched in October 2023, the Metal Gear Master Collection Vol 1 was released on modern platforms, letting many gamers enjoy the legendary series. However, the original launch did not leverage the power of current generation platforms, alongside other issues.

This collection recently got a major 2.0 update that finally adds support for 4K resolutions and more on most platforms.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1 update breakdown for each platform, explaining the resolution options for each version.

As reported by Gaming Instincts, the collection received an update finally adding 4K resolution support for Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. This applies to PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series X/S. The full breakdown can be found in the image above.

It’s worth noting that the Nintendo Switch will not receive these features.

Closing Thoughts

As someone who has had a casual interest in the series, with my favorite installment being Metal Gear Rising: Revengance, it’s fantastic to see this collection being updated to leverage the latest hardware. And for PC players, who are used to resolution options, getting that support not long after that version’s launch is great.

Will the collection receive further updates? Or will Konami announce a Volume 2, containing games like Metal Gear Solid 4 and the PSP titles? Only time will tell.

But will you all check this update out? Let us know in the comments below!
