Earlier today, Digital Extremes had a full Devstream for their upcoming fantasy MMORPG, Soulframe. During the Devstream, they showed off hints of where the game is heading. With reveals of corrupted pacts, virtues, and a little bit of the new voice cast in the game. As well as a wealth of new content coming to the game soon. But that was not all they had planned for TennoCon 2026. During TennoLive earlier today, they showed off new gameplay for the next story quest in Soulframe, named “Warsongs”. Here is everything we learned from it!
Everything we saw from the Warsongs Demo for Soulframe
The demo for Warsongs opened up with Tempest Bayor, voiced by Ben Starr, waking up in an Ode tower. Bayor has a scarlet arm as opposed to the blue arms that Envoys have. From here, they showed Bayor meeting with the Odes leader, Synod in the flying Ode towers. The interior contents of these towers were shown off, with Ode walking around and citizens of Alca serving them there, with caged animals everywhere.
During this segment, Bayor is given what appears to be a dagger, but then it turns into the Mendicant greatsword shown during the Devstream earlier when the Envoy picks it up later in the demo, also being given that new corrupted pact. But that’s not all for story content. They showed off gameplay of the Envoy’s mother during the Siege at the beginning of the story. She cuts down Ode with a greatsword and holds them in the air with light-focused magic, but is stopped by Tempest Bayor.
Bayor does something that mind-controls her soldiers, then cuts to a shot far from the bridge before an explosion happens. Afterwards, they cut to a scene of a beaver pushing the basket of the Envoy as a baby to and through a river, finding its way to the grandfather. In a scene shortly after, they show the Envoy looking for nuts to make a cake and using a boomerang to kill Ode soldiers until he is found by Bayor.
New Corrupted Pact and Greatsword Gameplay
After finding the pact and greatsword, the Envoy is led astray by Tempest Bayor in an underground dungeon. Cutting down Mendicant and finds little memories that take him back to the days of him being a child. They fished, they fought off Ode with a boomerang, and also found what became of his grandfather, leading into a fight with the Mendicant Reinbreaker.
After defeating the boss, they steal the horse and ride to the place the mother fell, finding Tempest Bayor for a final standoff. It was cinematic and had an incredibly emotional song playing during it. Alternating between the Envoy and their mother during the fight. After they survive the encounter, they take a mechanism from Bayor, pressing a button and flying up to what seems to be the Ode sky towers, finding the Fey Empress and showing off her surprising personality.
This will be a free update to the Preludes version of Soulframe. It will launch during the Fall or later. The Preludes version of the game is still invite-only, but they opened it up to all players until midnight tomorrow, so jump in while you can!
